Image editing

In this post I decided to display my experimentations of how I have edited images so that when I came to edit my final images for my main task I could apply images that looked professional, adding realism and professionalism to my magazine and to also fit convention of my genre or rock for my magazine.

The tools I had used for my images were the marquee tool, the blur tool, the eraser tool, the adjustments tab which contained hue/saturation, colour balance, channel mixer, exposure, brightness, selective colour and the vibrance tools within.

The marquee tool is a tool that allows you to take off a bulk of excess in your image that you do not wish to use. To use the marquee tool simply select the marquee icon of the side tab bar, the click and drag over what you wish to take out then release the mouse button and then select the backspace button to delete the excess highlighted within the marquee tool.

The blur tool allows you to blur and part of images that are not intended to be on the image but are too difficult to remove. It can also be used to joint multiple images together and smooth out sharp edges within your magazine. To use the blur tool, just click onto the blur tool icon of the side tab bar the increase or reduce the size and sharpness you want in the options tab, after which you simply click and drag over where you wish to blur and then rub over the selected part of the image you wish to blur out and keep doing so until that specific part you wish to blur out has blurred out.

The eraser tool is a top that allows you to erase parts of a image you wish you take out, unlike the marquee tool you can use the eraser to either take out a majority of excess out of an image or you can use the eraser tool to erase intricate parts out of an image which would be difficult to do with a marquee tool as the marquee tool is a fixed rectangular shape, whilst the eraser tool is a more flexible shape of a circle. To use the eraser tool simply click on the eraser icon in the side tab bar and then left click on the area you wish to erase and then erase the selected area you wish to erase. You can also change the size and sharpness of your eraser in the options tab when the eraser tool has been selected.

Within the adjustments tab in the top tab options I was able to change multiple aspects of the images I had chosen such as color balance, exposure, vibrance, Hue/saturation, Channel Mixer, color balance, selective colour and brightness/contrast. Brightness/Contrast allows you to change the brightness of the image so that you are able to remove any artificial lighting that doesn't make the image look professional; You can also change the atmosphere of the image by making the image looking darker giving the image a more sinister or gothic atmosphere or a very light and glam atmosphere by turning the image very bright. Exposure allows you to add or take away a glare by adjusting the exposure, offset and gamma correction which can make the image clearer or harder to see the image. Hue/Saturation, colour balance and and channel mixer allows you to change the colour of the image you wish to select without interfering with the shape of the image which allows you change the atmosphere of the image, for example people relate red to an aggressive colour and therefore an aggressive atmosphere and people also relate cyan and blu to cold and sad colors which transfer to a sad and cold atmosphere.

Font Selection

In this post I display choices I have made for my font selection for my music magazine project.

I have Chosen 28 days later regular font for my masthead and main sell line for my magazine as this is a thick clear "edgy" font that can draw my target audiences into my magazine by catching their eye, the fact that this font looks quite gritty also applies to the conventions of rock which means that my target audiences can relate to this font easily.

I have chosen unreleased regular, animal silence regular, evil dead regular, ghost rider movie regular, hawk moon regular, xar regular and Grendel's Mother expansion and  as I find these fonts would be an aesthetically "catchy" looking font for sell lines to catch my target audiences attention to draw them into the magazine, these fonts also looks very gothic or gritty which fit under the conventions of rock also meaning that my target audiences can relate to my magazine easily increasing further probability that my magazine will be sold to the correct audience.

I chose avenir black, TW Cen MT bold, Verdana bold and abadi MT Condensed extra bold regular  bold for my essential info as these are clear and clean writing that can easily be read by my target audiences, as opposed to the previous fonts mentioned in above examples, that whilst can be read by my target audience, are all very hard to read when in a small size which could effect sales within my magazine as it could put off people within my target audiences from being able to read the magazine without spending lengthy amounts of time into reading the magazine.

Final music magazine

In this post I show my final music magazine changes on my main task. the main changes I had used was that I had changed the images in the contents page, to a variety of bands, and I did this to add more realism to my magazine. I also have added more text to my contents page which encourages my primary and secondary audience to read ahead into my music magazine. I have also changed the background of my music magazines double page spread to black to follow a main theme colours of black red and white and I did this so that my double page spread looks more visually appealing to my primary and secondary audience, encouraging them to read ahead into the magazine. I have also corrected spelling mistakes and I have changed the page numbers to even numbers so that it fits convention of magazines as the start of all new articles start on even pages. On my cover page I have also changed the bottom sell lines to only three artists and expanded the text so that it takes up more space so that it further attracts more of my target and secondary audience.

Progress of magazine 09/04/15

In this post I showcase the changes I have made to my music magazine. The main change within my magazine is that I have added images to my music magazine, which all are edited to be clearer with specific atmospheres for each image to draw my primary and secondary audience in. What I feel I could improve is to add more text to my contents page so that there is more description to read to encourage my target and secondary audience to read ahead within my magazine.
